Liverpool shorten for the title as City slip up to Premier League new boys

A controversial goal at Wolves saw City drop two unexpected points.

Wolves held Man City to a 1-1 draw whilst Liverpool edged passed a stern Brighton side on Saturday evening.

Boly scored with his hand at Molineux in the second half to put his side 1-0 up before City’s centre half in Laporte headed home their equaliser.

Man City hit the woodwork three times and could have been out of sight, but the missed handball from the officials saw Pep’s side having a lot of work to do if they were to gain all three points.

There was no surprise to see Salah on the scoresheet but Brighton were resilient and Klopp would have been happy to get the all-important three points.

As a result, Liverpool have been shortened and well-backed to pip City to the title this season. Man City are best priced at 8-11, and expected to win the league. However, Liverpool have shortened to 5-2, the shortest price they have been since 2014.

It appears to definitely be a two horse race, with Chelsea third favourites at 12-1, with Spurs at 16-1.

City are expected to win every game but under the circumstances, they did well to get a point. They are still heavy favourites but maybe with Kevin de Bruyne it might not be as easy as last season.

Liverpool will be breathing down their necks all season long and it’ll be interesting to see how far they can push Pep’s side.
