Luis Suarez linked with sensational return to Liverpool amid uncertainty over Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield

Liverpool are eyeing a shocking move for their former striker Luis Suarez this summer, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The Uruguayan was deemed unnecessary by Barcelona last summer and therefore joined Atletico Madrid in September 2020. Suarez has gone on to score 19 goals in 25 La Liga matches since then.

The Reds, meanwhile, barely need a new striker right now with Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Mohamed Salah on board.

Still, the current Premier League champions are reportedly willing to make a bid for Suarez amid their fears over Salah's future at Anfield. The Egyptian is out of contract in 2023 and remains heavily linked with a transfer to Real Madrid. As per Fichajes, Salah's exit would 'facilitate' Suarez's return to Liverpool.

The Reds splashed €26.5m on Suarez's move from Ajax in January 2011. The Uruguayan had netted 82 strikes in 133 outings for the Merseysiders before joining Barcelona for €81.72m in 2014.
