Mbappe becomes new 2021 Ballon d'Or favourite. Messi and Ronaldo no longer in top 2 after Champions League elimination

Paddy Power have updated odds on a potential winner of the 2021 Ballon d'Or following the Champions League last-16 round.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has become the new favourite at 3.5 while Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski comes as a runner-up at 6.5.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, meanwhile, have dropped to third and fourth respectively after Barcelona and Juventus got relegated from the Champions League in the latest round.

Paddy Powe's favourites to win the Ballon d'Or in 2021:

1. Kylian Mbappe - 3.5
2. Robert Lewandowski - 6.5
3. Cristiano Ronaldo - 7.0
4. Lionel Messi - 15.0

Last year's edition of France Football's prize was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to that, Ronaldo and Messi shared 11 out of the last 12 Ballon d'Ors between them with Luka Modric winning the award in 2018.
