Stockport come into tonight’s game off the back of a very good away win at Southport. The visitors dominated the game and could have won by more. However, I’m sure they’ll be delighted to record the win and move onto a game at home against a struggling Guiseley side.
Stockport are one of the favourites, along with York City to gain promotion this season. Last year they lost out in the play-offs but the truth is they’re far too big a club for this level. They opened their league account with a thumping 5-1 home win over F.C. United but followed that with a loss at York. No shame in this result (1-0) in a tight encounter. This defeat was followed up with a good away win and they’ll be confident of dismantling a poor Guiseley side.
The visitors suffered an embarrassing relegation last year. They were rooted at the bottom and endured some horrendous runs of straight defeats. This season hasn’t faired much better yet either. They started off with a defeat at Boston, then also lost at home to table topping Chorley. Over the weekend they were on the verge of a third straight defeat but manger to score a 90th minute equaliser to share the points against Telford.
Guiseley have scored once in their three league games so far and Stockport are averaging two goals per game. This will be a straight forward home win and I’m very surprised to see such odds
