"I can't see anything but a Manchester City win here". Paul Merson makes his Premier League predictions
Paul Merson is back with his latest round of Premier League predictions, including Manchester United vs Burnley, Newcastle vs Manchester City and Liverpool vs Leicester.
The Premier League is back with a full round of midweek matches so read on to see who the Magic Man is backing.
Tuesday
Arsenal vs Cardiff
They don't have any problems with these types of games and I can see them bouncing back easily from their defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
They have been very poor at the back and on top of that they have some injury problems at the back so it's debatable as to whether they'll keep a clean sheet, but I'll stick with 3-0.
Paul's prediction: 3:0
Wolves vs West Ham
West Ham are doing well in the league so that's what was so frustrating about their defeat in the FA Cup to AFC Wimbledon.
Fair play to Wimbledon but letting in four goals at Wimbledon just shouldn't happen.
It was a shocking result for Manuel Pellegrini's side and I think they are going to struggle at Wolves.
Paul's prediction: 2:1
Manchester United vs Burnley
The dream start continues for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer!
I still think United are not good enough defensively but they'll have too much going forward against a Burnley side who come into the game off the back of a 5-0 drubbing at Manchester City.
So it's a win for United and nine in a row for Solskjaer. Wow!
Paul's prediction: 3:1
Newcastle vs Manchester City
I can't see anything but a Manchester City win here.
Newcastle were dumped out of the FA Cup at the weekend so that's more negativity and another year without any sort of challenge for silverware.
City are flying at the moment and their good form will continue at St James' Park.
Paul's prediction: 0:3
Wednesday
Bournemouth vs Chelsea
This looks like a difficult game for Chelsea on paper.
However, a big positive for Chelsea is the fact they rested Eden Hazard against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
Bournemouth love to go forward, especially at home, so this will be an open game. That will suit Chelsea and I think they will have too much for Eddie Howe's side.
Paul's prediction: 1:3
Liverpool vs Leicester
It's hard to make a case against Liverpool.
Leicester can be quite a dangerous side on their day but that's the problem, you just don't know what you are going to get from Claude Puel's side from game to game.
One minute they can be a right handful but the next they are getting beat. So for me, it's a Liverpool win with Jurgen Klopp's side opening back up their four-point cushion at the top of the table.
Paul's prediction: 3:1
Tottenham vs Watford
It's a massive game for Tottenham! They suffered another cup exit at the weekend so they need to get back to winning ways, and fast!
Mauricio Pochettino has said the focus is on top four so he cannot afford defeat here.
Watford rested almost everybody against Newcastle. They made 11 changes so they will be raring to go at Wembley.
This will be a very hard game for Spurs but I'm backing them to edge it.
Paul's prediction: 2:1
