With Real Madrid performing well below expectations in all competitions this season, PSG went into the first leg of this Champions League tie in high hopes of getting something against the most successful side in Champions League history. Those hopes got even higher as Adrien Rabiot netted the opener, but things quickly unravelled and the Ligue 1 leaders ended up losing 3-1.
Things aren’t done and dusted yet though. PSG lost away to Bayern Munich in the group stages but were scintillating in the home fixture, winning that game 3-0. However, since that loss to Real Madrid they have seen star forward Neymar ruled out for at least two months with a broken metatarsal, and Kyliann Mbappe is a also doubt.
It’s not like PSG are short on attacking talent though. Edinson Cavani was rested at the weekend and will return to action on Tuesday, whilst Angel Di Maria netted in that 2-0 win over Troyes to continue his excellent form. Les Parisiens have won nine of their last ten competitive games, and they have scored five goals in their two games without Neymar.
