Portugal battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Croatia in their first game since being eliminated from the 2018 World Cup. Far more impressive than Italy's 1-1 draw against Poland on Friday night.
Italy are still searching for their best XI and formation under Roberto Mancini and while the same is true to some extent with Portugal, they are still much further along in their development under Fernando Santos.
Italy have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides but Portugal came out on top in their most recent encounter. Even without Cristiano Ronaldo, the home side will be looking for at least a point here.
