The Olympique Lyonnais knows a beginning of year 2019 means in terms of results (1 qualification for the 16th of final of the Coupe de France, 1 elimination in Cup of the League and 1 draw in league). The players of ***no Genesio can revive midweek trying to bring back a good result of Toulouse against a team of the TFC who has not won a match at the Stadium since the 3rd day. For our prognosis, we bet on a success of the OL.
Lyon have only lost three of their last 24 matches but eleven of these have been draws, which isn’t really the form of a team trying to challenge for a title. They currently sit 3rd in the league and have kept just three clean sheets in their last 16 matches in all competitions. Their defence has been pretty woeful recently with the introduction of Leo Dubois at right-back against Reims doing little to remedy this. Lyon are unbeaten on the road since October though so they’ll be hoping this record can bring three points back to the Groupama.
Toulouse were unfortunate to lose when they faced Strasbourg on Tuesday. Les Violets sit 14th in the league but battled hard and showed a good account of themselves against Europa League chasing Strasbourg. Toulouse have generally been pretty good recently with wins in three of their last five games after winning none of the previous twelve. They have managed to sort out their attacking woes and have scored eleven goals in their last six games, with Max Gradel being at the centre of most.
Lyon have won each of their last five matches against Toulouse but with the Olympians’ back-line being so poor, and with three of the last five clashes seeing both teams score, we’re going to back les Violets to get on the scoresheet here. Toulouse have been excellent going forward but with Lyon unbeaten away from home since October, we’re going to back a tight match. Toulouse really could have beaten Strasbourg on Sunday and with Lyon so lacklustre against Reims, I'm predicting a 1-1 draw.
