Kurban Berdyev failed to ignite his team’s spirit last season and will need to do much better this time in order to restore Rubin Kazan’s dignity. The first test will be difficult for the home side and they will need to be at their very best to get the three points here.
FC Krasnodar showed some quality under 34-year-old head coach Murad Musaev last season and are hoping to do even better this term. On a good day, they might be able to cause the home side an upset on Sunday.
There aren’t any real favourites for the weekend’s match at Kazan and a draw is the most likely result here.
