Both of these sides have been on inconsistent runs of late but are still in the Championship play-off places. Derby County are in sixth place on 42 points, four clear of the seventh-placed team. Saturday saw them win 4-3 at Norwich City with two injury time goals by Jorian Josefzoon after trailing 2-0 and 3-2. That win ended a run of three league games without a win and only one of the last four home league games have ended in victory with the last two being drawn.
Middlesbrough are fifth in the table and ahead of their opponents on goal difference. They beat bottom of the table Ipswich Town on Saturday and with the top two both losing, are now only six points off the automatic promotion places. Only two of their last eight league and cup games have been won and that includes the home defeat by League One side Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup. Two of their last five away league games have been won and Middlesbrough have drawn five of their 12 away games and nine in total. These two teams look even matched, go for the game to end in a draw.
