Empoli have had some decent results at their own ground, having beaten Napoli here not too long ago. They may have lost three of their last four in Serie A, but they have seven home wins to their name at their own stadium. The Azzurri have scored 1.65 goals per game on the road, while Fiorentina have conceded at least twice in their last five trips, scoring a single goal themselves in three of them. With that in mind, we’re backing the high scoring hosts to edge this one. We’re backing Empoli for the win here, as they look to keep their survival chances alive.
Fiorentina have major issues of their own, having pretty much fallen apart in recent months. They kicked off 2019 on a positive note, but they head into this clash without a win in their last 12 matches in all competitions. Fiorentina have fallen from European contenders to the bottom half in the process, which has left them with little to play for in the final stages of the season. With that kind of run behind them, it’s hard to see the Viola coming into this one and delivering a major blow to Empoli’s survival chances.
