Barcelona managed no more than a point in the much-awaited mid-week El Clasico after both teams failed to get their names on the scoresheet. Despite being the favorites to come out on top in that latter matchup, the hosts recorded just two shots on target as opposed to their foes who took twice that number.
Nevertheless, the Catalans are still holding on to the top spot on the ladder, albeit only on goal difference.
On the other hand, Deportivo Alaves will be making the trip to Camp Nou on the back of a 3-1 defeat in the Copa Del Rey. That too, against lower-tier side Jaen.
The guests have not been faring better in the La Liga either, and are currently on a dismal three-match winless streak. To make matters worse, the visitors have not looked sharp in their outings. So far, they have just one win to boast of, from their past eight trips on the road.
In sharp contrast, Barcelona are yet to succumb to defeat on home soil this term. They have dropped points just once and are the best home team in the cluster as far as statistics go.
It is also worth mentioning that the hosts have made no mistake in securing the bragging rights in each of their last three meetings with this foe here. Taking into account that the home team have also won four of their last five Laliga fixtures here by a two-goal margin or more, count on Barcelona to make light of Deportivo Alaves in this one.
Furthermore, with the likes of Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann, and Lionel Messi up front, it goes without saying that goals are a given. Ernesto Valverde’s side have found the back of the net thirty times at home. Which, is ten more than the second-best tally.
Considering that all of their past five h2h fixtures here have also witnessed over 2.5 goals on the charts, expect nothing short of a high scoring affair this Saturday.
