With just how often Fulham were able to carve Everton open, the Toffees will need to produce a performance like the ones against Chelsea and Arsenal if they are to avoid a potentially embarrassing defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Leicester City have been in a much better form of late than Newcastle United and we predict that Claude Puel’s troops are going to prove their worth on the field. A man to watch in the home side will be Jamie Vardy, who scored a brace in the 4-1 victory over the Terriers.

Chelsea Win • 1.32

Chelsea are not quite looking like the kind of team that they are supposed to be of late and they don't have the most impressive of records of late against the Hammers, but surely this is a watershed match. With so much riding on the line, the Blues absolutely cannot afford to be dropping home points to teams as inconsistent as West Ham. The Hammers can do a job, sure, on their day, but a loss here could set up Sarri-ball to be over before it got started up in earnest.

Plymouth Argyle Win • 8

Millwall have an opportunity to reach the third round of this competition for the first time since their 2011-12 campaign; ironically, the first team they beat that year was Plymouth Argyle.
The Devon outfit only narrowly avoided an EFL exit that season, but they have come a long way since then: last year's seventh-placed finish in League One was their best campaign for nearly a decade.
Argyle should respond to Saturday's 5-1 defeat to Peterborough with vigour and have already shown they can do damage against Championship opposition by winning 1-0 away at Bristol City in the first round.

Preston North End Win • 4

Leeds have had a wonderful start to their Championship campaign but if they are to continue their promotion push with the intensity that Marcelo Bielsa demands, they will have to rotate the squad in the EFL Cup, which they did for the first round win over Bolton.
Preston have an energetic, vibrant young squad and this match could give us another glimpse into the talent they possess; centre-back Jordan Storey, who did superbly at Exeter last season, could have a great opportunity to shine.
The Lilywhites could make progress in this tournament a higher priority than Leeds do and the visitors may edge this one.
