West Ham put in yet another maddening and frustrating performance on Sunday as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the relegation threatened Burnley. They have won 5 of their last 7 matches in the Premier League and look an excellent side on their day, but their tendency to collapse has been ever present throughout this season.
Still, The Hammers recent good form has pushed them well away from the danger zone in the top flight. They now sit 11th in the table and just 2 points behind Wolves in 7th, and if Manuel Pellegrini can put their inconsistency to bed in the second half of this season, they have a real chance of European football.
Brighton may not be the prime contenders for a top half finish, but the Seagulls are certainly in with a chance right now. They put in another stellar performance at the Amex Stadium on Saturday to beat Everton, lifting them to 13th in the table and putting them only 4 points adrift of the aforementioned Wolves.
All of Brighton’s success over the past season and a half can be traced back to their home form. Away from home it’s a completely different story – They have lost 7 of their 10 trips away in the Premier League this season and have only won 4 league away days since their return to the top flight last season.
This is something that West Ham will be hoping to take advantage of, although their record at the London Stadium is far from perfect. However, they have managed to win 4 of their last 7 games there and 2 of their defeats during this period came against Spurs and Manchester City.
