Liverpool is eyeing the Premier League trophy which was on their hand last in 1990. They are still on the top of the table and will keep that momentum this week around to keep itself on top. Maybe I am not very good at football, but everyone sees how cool Liverpool plays football. They can be champions. But can prevent City. A win against Brighton has stop Liverpool two matches losing run. Crystal Palace may had defeated Man City at Etihad, but not going to happen against Liverpool at Anfield.
When Liverpool were winning titles in the 1970s and 80s, Anfield was a fortress and the Reds have done that again over. They have gone 31 home league games without defeat and it was Crystal Palace on April 23, 2017 who inflicted the last league defeat. Liverpool beat Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend to bounce back from two successive defeats and keep them four points clear at the top of the table. They have won their last six home league games and 14 of the last 16. Liverpool may not score as many home league goals as Manchester City (27 v 40) but they rarely concede goals (3 v 10) and three more points look likely here. Crystal Palace had that famous win here in 2017 and also beat Manchester City away last month, but still have major relegation worries. They also won twice at Anfield in 2015 and would love a similiar result here. Palace lost at home to Watford last weekend and have been beaten in two of their last three league games leaving them 14th and only four points above the relegation zone. They have won their last two away league games but have six defeats out of eleven on the road.
Palace have won three of their last four Premier League games at Anfield but did the Reds a favour when gaining a famous 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium last month. Jurgen Klopp’s side have kept a clean sheet in 12 of their last 16 home Premier League games and I feel it will be difficult for the Eagles, managed by former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson, to create goalscoring opportunities. Another Liverpool home win for me.
Saturday would have been the 100th birthday of former Liverpool boss Bob Paisley, and the club are going to mark the occasion in a variety of ways. The Reds will be up against another former Liverpool manager, Roy Hodgson, who did not have a very happy time at Anfield during a difficult period for the club. Liverpool got through last week's trip to Brighton with three points, which was the important thing - it is those type of games that decide whether you end up as champions. I don't see them having many problems in winning this one too. Trent Alexander-Arnold is out, but Jurgen Klopp will just play James Milner at right-back, and he will not moan about it. Anything Palace get from this game is a bonus, and I just don't see it happening.
