West Ham have won 7 drawn 3 and lost 5 of their 15 home league games played, and sit 9th in the Premiership with 39 points, losing their last league game played 2-0 away against Cardiff. Huddersfield have won 1 drawn 3 and lost 10 of their 14 league away games played, and sit 20th in the Premiership with 14 points, losing their last league game played 0-2 at home against Bournemouth. Huddersfield held West Ham to a 1-1 draw at home this season, with West Ham doing the double over Huddersfield last season 2-0 at home and 1-4 away. Huddersfield have gone theeir last 5 league away games played without scoring a goal losing 1-0 against Brighton in their last league away game played. West Ham have gone their last 5 home league games played unbeaten, beating Newcastle 2-0 in thier last league home game played. I am taking West Ham to win this match today.
West Ham had been much improved recently before they went to Cardiff last time out, but they were basically nowhere to be seen in Wales. They were awful. How do you explain that? How can a team look like a really good side for four weeks, and then put in a performance like that? It is not the first time this season that the Hammers have been playing well, then chucked in a display like that, but it does seem to happen more when they are on the road. It won't happen again against Huddersfield at home, surely? I am sure the Terriers will put up a good fight, but Manuel Pellegrini's side should be too good for them.
West Ham will start as strong favourites to win this match - if that comes to pass, it would make it three successive victories at the London Stadium and send Huddersfield closer to relegation. I am sure the Terriers will put up a good fight, but Manuel Pellegrini's side should be too good for them West Ham have never lost to Huddersfield in a Premier League fixture (W2, D1). Huddersfield haven't beaten West Ham in the league in four meetings since November 1971. West Ham are unbeaten at home in all competitions in 2019 (W4, D2). Huddersfield have lost seven of their last eight league matches. The Terriers have scored eight goals away from home, the lowest tally in the division
I've been interested with what Manuel Pellegrini has done because this wasn't easy at the start of the season. He's calmed the fans and team down. They seem to be quite united now. They've managed to keep Marko Arnautovic and he'll be back in the lineup for me this weekend. Huddersfield are playing for a bit of pride but they're gone [relegation]. I think Arnautovic's return means West Ham are going to have a comfortable afternoon. I expect him to score two.
West Ham will take full advantage of the fact that they are playing at the Olympic Stadium against the weakest offense in the Premier League. The visitors have scored 15 goals in 30 matches. The Hammers have won 6 of their last 9 home matches (including a single home victory in the FA Cup). They are obviously much better than their opponents. I expect a home victory in this one.
