It’s tough to criticise Hearts’ last few performances; they were far too good for Hamilton Academical at this venue on Boxing Day, while they showed great discipline and defensive solidity to edge out Hibernian a few days later. What’s more, Wednesday’s hosts have looked fairly solid at home for a while. They’ve won each of their last two at home and even when they’ve not got a favourable result, their performance hasn’t been too bad, as the fact that Hearts have bettered their opponents in terms of expected goals in three of their last four at home suggests. They’ve also outperformed the opposition in terms of expected goals in seven out of nine at Tynecastle Park this season.
Dundee, who’ve shipped no less than 25 goals away from home this season, are not just conceding plenty of goals on their travels, but they’re also giving up plenty of chances.
