Turkey failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and earlier in the season were relegated to League C of the Nations League. They had a welcome win on Friday with a 2-0 win away in Albania. They have a tough group to negotiate with France and Iceland also getting wins in their opening fixtures. Their poor performance in the Nations League could prove vital because if they fail to finish in the top two of this group, there's no chance of them making the play-offs. Turkey had won only one of their last nine games before Friday's victory. Home form is poor going into this game with no goals scored in their last three games.but this is a much easier assignment than recent home games against Sweden and Russia. They last hosted Moldova in 2017 and won that game 3-1.
Moldova will most likely battle it out with Andorra for bottom spot in this group. Their campaign began with a 4-1 home loss to France and their current form is hugely disappointing. It's been that way for a while and in their last 29 games going back to 2016, they have only won three games and all were against the lowest-ranked team in the world, San Marino. Their last 11 away games have produced just one win in San Marino and they have failed to score in nine of those 11 away games. Another defeat looms here, go for Turkey to win the game leading at both half and full time.
