Real Madrid have won the Champions League for the past three seasons and should be able to finish off Ajax and reach the last eight of this season's competition. Their form continues to be inconsistent with two straight home defeats by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey and La Liga. Those losses mean they can concentrate on trying to win a fourth straight title. Three of their last four home games have been lost, the Barcelona defeats were always on the cards but the defeat by Girona most certainly wasn't. They also managed to lose one of their three Champions League group games, losing 3-0 to CSKA Moscow.
Ajax have it all to do if they want to reach the last eight of the Champions League. They lost the home first leg 2-1 and so nearly got a draw with Real getting the winner in the 87th minute. The Dutch side have won their three games since the first leg scoring 13 goals. Their form on the road is a bit inconsistent though with two wins and two defeats in the Dutch league in which they are currently second. They haven't lost an away game in the Champions League this season but have drawn four of their last five away games in the competition. They have to score at least twice in this game to have any chance of reaching the quarter finals. That should mean an open game and the tip here is for over 2.5 goals to be scored.
