Manchester United go into the Europa League final as favourites, however, their opponents are undefeated in this year’s competition and have a manager at the helm in Unai Emery that can boast of winning this competition three times in the past, which is more than any other.
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer will be desperate to win his first trophy as United manager, although if they are to be successful here, they’ll most likely have to do it without injured captain Harry McGuire.
I think United will be happy to give up some territory to the Spaniards in the hope they can utilise their counter-attack that has been such a potent weapon for them throughout the season.
There’s no doubt Villarreal will be wary of that, and although I think the Yellow Submarine have enough to get on the score-sheet, I reckon it’ll be United that will be collecting the winner’s medals come full-time.
It’s 2-1 to the side from Manchester for me.
Villarreal will be looking to win their first Europa League trophy when they take on Premier League giants Manchester United at Stadion Miejski in Gdansk. The Yellow Submarine did well to eliminate Arsenal in the semis, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in the title game. Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze should be the only absentee in Unai Emery’s team as midfielder Etienne Capoue returns from suspension.
The Red Devils, on the other hand, faced no difficulties in the double-header against Roma, with Uruguay attacker Edinson Cavani proving his worth in both legs. Considering that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rested key players for the Europa League final, we are tempted to put our money on the nominal visitors. Phil Jones remains on the sidelines through injury, Harry Maguire, Fred, and Scott McTominay are rated doubtful for the decider. Man Utd are eyeing their second Europa League title.
