Bosnia had an excellent Nations League campaign and that was due to their home form. They won both of their games, beating Austria 1-0 and Northern Ireland 2-0. The key to their team is their front man Edin Dzeko, he scored all 3 of their home Nations League goals and has 54 goals in 97 appearances for the National team which is a very impressive record. In their previous qualification campaign they just missed out qualifying for the 2018 World Cup to Greece who are their main rivals in their 2020 Euro Qualification group. They were impressive at home in the group, beating Estonia, Cyprus and Gibraltar all to nil whilst drawing 0-0 to Greece and only losing 4-3 to Belgium.
Armenia finished their Nations League campaign strong with a 4-0 thrashing over group winners Macedonia, a 6-2 thrashing of Gibraltar and a 2-2 away draw against Liechtenstein in their final game although they knew before that game they don’t have a chance of promotion. Their start player Henrikh Mkhitaryan has just returned from injury and has scored 6 goals in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season for Arsenal, Armenia will need Henrikh to be on top form and keep fit if they have a chance of making the Euro’s in 2020.
Bosnia come into this game as the odds on favourites which is fair considering their home form in the Nations League and World Cup Qualifying campaign.
It’s something of a tumultuous time for the Germany national team right now. After their dreadful showing in the World Cup, they have only won two of their six matches since then and finished bottom of their UEFA Nations League group behind the Netherlands and France.
This has forced Joachim Low to have a good look at his squad, and he’s made the controversial decision to axe the experienced trio of Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels, and Thomas Muller. The decision has been accompanied by hearty amounts of backlash, but it’s clear that Low is now focusing on the future generation.
You can certainly see that in his squad selection for these games too. Manuel Neuer is the only player selected who is over the age of 30, and 15 of their 20 outfield players are aged 25 or younger. This includes three uncapped players in Lukas Klostermann, Niklas Stark, and Maximilian Eggestein, while 23 year old Timo Werner is the only out and out striker selected.
Serbia have gone for a more traditional mixture of experience and youth, but nevertheless it harbours some big names in the squad. Aleksandar Mitrovic is expected to take the strikers berth on Wednesday, operating in front of a big name midfield including the in form Dusan Tadic, Manchester United’s Nemanja Matic, and the hot prospect of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
It’s proven to be quite a promising time for Serbia recently too. They may have been out of the World Cup by the end of the group stages, but since then they have won four and drawn two of their six matches. Of course, none of their opponents during this period were on the same level as Germany.
What we can expect from the visitors is a good level of attacking play. Tadic is in great form at Ajax at the moment, while Mitrovic has an impressive record of 23 goals in 46 appearances for the national team. They have scored 11 goals in the six games since the World Cup and have only failed to find the net once.
Germany, meanwhile, have conceded in 12 of their last 14 matches and have shipped eight goals in their six games since their World Cup humiliation. Backing Both Teams to Score on Wednesday looks a very promising move.
AC Milan are among the on form teams in the Serie A heading to this clash. They have a 10 – game unbeaten run and head to this clash on five straight wins in the Serie A; only them and league leaders Juventus are unbeaten with straight wins in the last five league matches in Serie A. Inter recovered a a draw and a loss in the Serie A with a win over SPAL and here they will have bigger fish to fry. They have one win in the last five matches and will definitely have it harder taking on this Milan side with four wins and a draw in their last five outings. Milan have seven wins in their last 10 matches and seven clean sheets too, while they have failed to score in only two of the 10 matches. They have straight wins in their last five league matches and have just one league loss in the last 15 matches. At San Siro, they have not conceded a goal in Serie A in the last four matches. However, Milan have not scored in the last two meetings with Inter and have just one win in their last six meetings, while Inter have two. In 60 meetings between the two Milan sides, each has won 22 with 16 ending in draws. In the last 14 meetings, the away side in this clash has picked just one win, and that was Inter back in 2012.
Inter hosts Frankfurt in the EL on thursday. Both teams are in decent form as Inter lost just 1 of the last 5 while Frankfurt won 4 during that time. Still during these 5 games 3 for hosts and 4 for visitors went over 2.5 goals. First leg was goalless so i assume we'll see goals now as long as both teams actually want to progress in this competion,
With arsenal looking out of sorts in Europe mid week and united buoyed by the win in Paris this is the perfect time to go to the emirates. United have won 9 away games in a row a club record and include arsenal in that winning here 3-1 in the fa cup. Even with a depleted side they can come here and win again.
West Ham United recovered from their loss to Manchester City with a comfortable 2 – 0 win over Newcastle United in the last match and find a Cardiff City side winless in the last three matches. Each having ended in defeat. As Cardiff seeks to rise off the red zone, this is not a match they can afford to drop points in, with 17th placed Southampton two points ahead of them. Both teams have not been strong in defence and take to the clash just a clean sheet each, and two wins apiece as well, but Cardiff have three losses, with a combined 10 goals conceded in the process. With just four goals conceded in their last five matches, West Ham will be more confident defensively as they march to this clash. West Ham have no win in the last five away league matches and have also not managed a clean sheet in the same run. It is not like Cardiff City have the best home run ahead of this clash, they have managed just one win in the last six home matches in the league. West Ham have seven straight wins over Cardiff City and have lost to their hosts in their last 12 meetings.
It's been an up and down season for Serie A side Napoli. They began the season in the Champions League but could only finish third behind PSG and Napoli so were transferred to the Europa League. This now represents their only real chance of winning a trophy after losing to Juventus last weekend and falling 16 points behind the league leaders. They had been unbeaten in their last six league and cup games before that defeat and at home hadn't lost since March 2018 before Juventus came calling at the weekend. That includes a victory over Liverpool and draw with PSG in this year's Champions League.
Red Bull Salzburg are clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga with an 11-point lead. They also began the season in the Champions League but lost to Red Star Belgrade and failed to make it into the group stages. Moved into the Europa League, Red Bull won their group with a 100% record and then beat Club Brugge 5-2 on aggregate in the last 32. They didn't have it all their own way in that tie though, losing the away leg 2-1 (after taking an early lead) before winning the home second leg 4-0. Two of their last three away games have ended in defeat and the tip here is for Napoli to get the home win.
The hosts lost out at Augsburg at the weekend, which has left them marginally clear at the top. They have a crucial month ahead, before starting April with a clash against Bayern. Given the huge opportunity they have domestically this season, it might be in Dortmund’s best interests not to progress here. However, they come into this game aiming to turn around their heavy defeat at Wembley, although the history books aren’t exactly in their favour ahead of this clash.
The issue for Spurs here is that they have a poor record on the road in this competition. Their last away win in the Champions League came at Dortmund in November 2017, when they faced a very different BVB under Peter Bosz. That’s one of just two away wins for Spurs in nine games in this competition. Now they’re going up against a side who have won 83% of their home games in the Bundesliga, including all of their key clashes with their fellow top six teams.
Besiktas are the much stronger team here being unbeaten in their last 5 league games (W4 D1) as well as having a strong home record so far this season. Fenerbahce are stuck in a relegation place at the moment and have a terrible away record so i can see a win for besiktas here.
Leicester City have to be careful over the coming weeks or they might just get dragged into a relegation battle. A run of one point from five games has seen them slide down to 12th in the table, eight points above the bottom three. This game begins an important run of fixtures for City with three of their next four games being at home against sides below them in the table. Fouf of their last five home games have been lost but games against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion and Fulham just have to produce points.
Crystal Palace are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup but are only three points above the relegation zone. Only one of their last five league games has ended in a victory for them and that was home to Fulham. This is only their third away league game this year and they've managed just one point from their other two. This game is followed by a home match against Manchester United in midweek so at least a point would be handy for Palace. Both of these teams are struggling for consistency and the tip is for under 2.5 goals to be scored in this game.
Chelsea are going through a dodgy patch at present and it's likely to signal the end of Maurizio Sarri's short time at Stamford Bridge. It seems inevitable he will leave sooner or later and if Chelsea get knocked out of the Europa League by Malmo FF, it could be sooner. Chelsea lead 2-1 from the first leg so it should be a straightforward progression into the last 16 but with Chelsea at the moment you never know. Recent poor performances had been on their travels but Monday saw them lose at home to Manchester United in the FA Cup. They have won their last six home games in the Europa League and the loss to United ended a run of five straight wins at the Bridge.
Malmo FF have it all to do in this tie. They need to score at least twice to have any chance of making it into the next round so will have to take some chances. It's been a staple diet of friendlies and the Swedish Cup for Malmo since the end of November. They finished second in their Europa League group behind Genk and two points clear of Besiktas. Their three away games ended in one win, one draw and a loss to Genk with only two goals scored. Each of their last four away games in this competition have had under 2.5 goals scored in them and the tip here is for another match with under 2.5 goals.
Back at home, Bayern have continued improving, closing in on Borussia Dortmund and they have registered a good run, having started the season on a wrong foot and here they will have another stern test, taking on one of the most consistent teams in Europe this season. Liverpool have picked 11 wins in the last 15 matches, losing just two and having had a shaky away run in the group stages, they will want to take full advantage of playing at home here. They head to this game on an unbeaten run of five matches – three wins and two draws – and they have scored 10 goals in the process. They won all their home matches at the group stage and the finalists in last season’s campaign, they have five losses and five wins in the last 10 Champions League matches. At home, Liverpool are unbeaten in 11 Champions League matches, and they have won the last five. The Reds have scored 16 goals in the last five Champions League matches at home, and conceded four. Bayern on their part, head to this game on four wins and a loss in the last five matches. The same is their run away from home; four wins and a loss, and they have scored three goals in each game in four of the last five away matches. They head to this clash unbeaten in seven Champions League matches, four of which have ended in wins. Bayern are also unbeaten away in the Champions League in eight matches and in each of those they have scored two goals or more. The two sides met competitively just once, in the UEFA Super Cup in 2001 and Liverpool won. The other time they met was in the Audi Cup in 2017 and Liverpool also won.
Roma had a good win in the Champions League in midweek but may live to regret conceding a late goal at home to Porto. They start this weekend in sixth place in Serie A and that's two places and a point behind the Champions League positions. Their next two games are against sides currently in the bottom four so they have a good chance to get points on the table before a crucial game against fourth-placed Lazio. Roma are unbeaten in their last six league games since an away loss to league leaders Juventus. At home, Roma are unbeaten in their last six league games, scoring at least twice in five of them and have only lost one home league game all season.
Bologna are 17th in the table and only out of the bottom three on goal difference.They have only won one of their last 15 league games, a surprise away win at Inter earlier this month. Overall Bologna have only won three league games all season and one of those was a home victory over Roma in September. They only have one loss in their last four away league games but the win at Inter is their only away league victory. Only eight points have been earned on the road this season with ten goals scored and only three teams have scored less than them. Roma are in decent form, are strong at home and can get the three points here.
Big game in the race for Champions League football here and only 1 point separates the tow sides. Milan are 4th while Atalanta are 5th so the stakes are high and both sides are in good form. Atalanta are unbeaten in 5, winning 4 of those 5 games while Milan have only lost 1 of their last 11 Serie A games. 5 of the last 6 Serie A games for Atalanta at home have seen both teams score, as have 3 of the last 4 meetings between these two clubs so BTTS seems a solid bet here.
Burnley aren't in a good form as they have lost 4 of the last 5 games in Premier League and are 2 poinst away from the relegation zone so they are in desperate search for the 3 points and with the 7 remaining games until the conclusion of Premier League they will be a very dangerous team against every opponent.
Although Wolves are seventh in the league, they're clearly a better team against those that allow them space and that's why they lost home and away to Huddersfield this season. Burnley won't offer them that space and that's why I think this'll be a home win.
